(We do not collect these names or emails!)"Up," the latest release from Pixar which will be out on DVD November 10, tells the story of 78-year-old Carl Fredricksen, a grouchy widower who seems resigned to his lonely lot in life. Carl is voiced by Ed Asner, who is perhaps most well known for his Emmy-winning performance as Captain Davies in the mini-series "Roots."
When faced with heading to a retirement home, Carl, who has always dreamed of flying, manages to set himself free. He attaches a bouquet of balloons to his house and gets carried off to an adventure in South America. Along for the ride are a few dogs (who cook) and Russell, a roly-poly boy trying to earn his final merit badge as a Wilderness Explorer for assisting the elderly.
The film boasts beautiful CGI effects, as well as 3-D images.
"Up" is directed by Pete Docter, who also directed the popular "Monsters Inc." Fans of Pixars previous hits like "Ratatouille", "Toy Story" and "Wall-E" will appreciate the heartwarming story as well as the endearing and quirky characters that populate "Up."
For fans of the movie, a video game based on the movie was released earlier this year.
