The first installment of "The Hunger Games" trilogy is still playing in some theaters, but that hasn't stopped rampant speculation about the casting for the upcoming sequel "Catching Fire." The most recent news is perhaps the most exciting, as Oscar-winner Philip Seymour Hoffman has reportedly been offered the role of Plutarch Heavensbee, Deadline reports.

The part of Heavensbee is an important one, and Hoffman is certainly a good choice. He has been one of the most prolific actors over the last decade and also has an impressive ability to change from part to part. He won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his turn as Truman Capote in the hit 2005 film "Capote."

While his name has been floated for the part, there's no word yet on whether he has accepted the role. He is coming off a very demanding stint as Willy Loman in "Death of a Salesman" and is set to appear in "The Master," according to the website.

Although "Catching Fire" isn't slated to hit theaters until November 2013, fans can get ready for Hoffman's role by checking out some of his previous work including "Almost Famous" and "Moneyball."
