Foo Fighters' drummer tapped for CBGB movie

Print this article The upcoming film centered around the iconic New York club CBGB is shaping up to have a very interesting cast. The most recent addition to the call sheet is Foo Fighters' drummer Taylor Hawkins, who is reportedly cast to play The Stooges frontman Iggy Pop, according to Paste magazine.
The film, aptly titled "CBGB," is expected to begin filming later this month, bringing together a year's-worth of planning. Other famous names attached the project include Alan Rickman, who is set to play club owner Hilly Kristal and "The Big Bang Theory" star Johnny Galecki who will star as legendary television producer Terry Ork.
The movie, which is going to be directed by Randall Miller, is expected to offer a glimpse into the mid-'70s world at the famous nightclub. The establishment is well-known for being the launching pad for some of the most important bands of the era including Blondie, Talking Heads and the Ramones.
Musical movies are often some of the best in Hollywood. Over the last several years, they have even taken home Oscars with Reese Witherspoon earning an award for her role in "Walk the Line" and Jamie Foxx finding recognition for "Ray."
