With Ridley Scott's "Prometheus" ready to hit theaters this Friday, fans of the famous director are rightfully excited. The movie, which stars Michael Fassbender and Charlize Theron, is Scott's first film in two years and has been met with considerable anticipation. In recognition of the release of "Prometheus," here's a look back at some of Scott's best films.

"Alien"

This groundbreaking science fiction movie is what helped put Scott on the map. When it was released in 1979, there was nothing else like it, and it even won the Oscar for Best Visual Effects. More than 30 years later, it still holds up as one of the scariest movies of all time and remains a classic.

"Blade Runner"

With talks of a remake of the 1982 futuristic thriller, the original has become even more impressive. The movie features great performances from Harrison Ford and Rutger Hauer, and its plot focusing on a dystopian Los Angeles decades in the future is one of the most in movie history.

"Gladiator"

Despite all his success at the box office, Scott did not hit it big with critics until the 2000 epic "Gladiator." Paced by an Oscar winning performance from Russell Crowe, this intense historical piece took home Best Picture.
