On Sunday night, the MTV Movie Awards pitted some of the biggest franchises in Hollywood against each other, and in the end it was "The Hunger Games" that came out on top. The March hit took home four awards, besting the likes of "Harry Potter" and "Twilight."

"The Hunger Games" was led by its two stars, Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson. The two young actors took home Golden Popcorn statues for Best Female and Male Performance, respectively. Additionally, they won for Best Fight along with Alexander Ludwig. Elizabeth Banks also took home an award for Best Transformation for her role as Effie Trinket.

Although "The Hunger Games" came away with the most awards, it wasn't the only film to make a splash. Most notably, "Twilight: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" took home the trophy for Movie of the Year, while "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2" won Best Cast and Best Hero.

Other winners included Melissa McCarthy for her comedic role in "Bridesmaids," and Emma Stone was recognized for her breakthrough year included performances in "The Help" and "Crazy, Stupid, Love."
