Print this article "Grey's Anatomy" spin-off "Private Practice" was recently renewed for a sixth season, but it may have to complete it without its star. Kate Walsh, who plays the lead role of Dr. Addison Montgomery, may leave the show after the first 13 episodes of next season, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Though ABC has yet to comment, Walsh's departure could put the show in an interesting position. While some have speculated that the season will only be 13 episodes long, the network has remained steadfast in its position that it would get picked up for a full season if it performs well in the ratings.
While there is no confirmation of Walsh's leaving the show, one of the series' longtime actors will definitely not be returning. The publication reports that Tim Daly, who was in the original cast, will not come back for season six.
It remains to be seen what will happen with "Private Practice," but until then fans can watch their favorite episodes through TV on DVD or check out other series including "Scrubs" and "Nip/Tuck."
