Print this article Thriller's don't always have to be big budget movies full of non-stop action. Sometimes, the tensest situations come out of a character's psychological state, and that's the case with 2012's "Man on Ledge." The star-studded new release DVD hits shelves May 29.
After checking into a hotel under a false name, Nick Cassidy (Sam Worthington) steps out of his room on the top floor and stands on the ledge, ready to commit suicide. However, his plans are thwarted once the crowd below notices and the police are called. Negotiator Lydia Mercer (Elizabeth Banks), battling some demons of her own, is called in to talk him down from the ledge.
Lydia soon learns Nick is an escaped prisoner and former police officer who was convicted of stealing a valuable diamond he was supposed to protect. However, he maintains his innocence, and it becomes clear his place on the ledge goes much deeper than originally thought.
"Man on Ledge" brings to mind a number of similar films over the last several years including the Colin Ferrell hit "Phone Booth" and the tense "Unstoppable."
