Aaron Sorkin is one of the most renowned screenwriters in Hollywood, and now the well-known scribe is getting ready to try his hand at something new, directing. Sorkin is attached to write and direct the upcoming biopic "Steve Jobs," based on the recently-released biography of the late Apple founder, MTV.com reports.

The biography was released last October shortly after Jobs' death, and quickly became one of the best selling books of 2011, with more than 2.2 million copies sold through Amazon.com. Sorkin is certainly a good fit for the writing gig, and Sony Pictures co-chairman Amy Pascal believes he is the right choice for the directorial job as well.

"There is no writer working in Hollywood today who is more capable of capturing such an extraordinary life for the screen than Aaron Sorkin; in his hands, we're confident that the film will be everything that Jobs himself was: captivating, entertaining, and polarizing," she said.

Sorkin has a knack for tackling scripts based on real life events. Two of his latest movies, "Moneyball" and "The Social Network" have earned Best Picture nominations in the last two years.
