Print this article Spy films and romantic comedies may not seem like they go together well, but "This Means War" makes it work. With a strong trio of lead actors and fast-paced action, the 2012 film delivers on both fronts. The new release DVD hits shelves May 22.
FDR Foster (Chris Pine) and Tuck Henson (Tom Hardy) are CIA agents and best friends. After a mission goes awry, they are given false identities and begin a quiet suburban life. However, they then both inadvertently begin dating the same woman, a product testing executive named Lauren (Reese Witherspoon).
After the friends realize they have been seeing the same person, they come to an agreement: Neither one will interfere in the other's romantic life, or tell her they know about each other, and she'll eventually come to a decision on her own. Of course, it doesn't go according to plan, and with a German criminal hot on their tail, neither does their quiet life.
There have been several other movies over the last few years that meld action and romance including "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" and "The Bounty Hunter."
