Ellen Pompeo, Patrick Dempsey sign new deal for 'Grey's Anatomy'

As "Grey's Anatomy" nears its eighth season finale, fans of the popular ABC medical drama recently got some good news. The show's two biggest stars, Ellen Pompeo and Patrick Dempsey signed new two-year deals, Deadline reports. Pompeo and Dempsey, along with fellow stars Sandra Oh, Justin Chambers and Chandra Wilson, all will be back for at least two more seasons. However, whether or not there are any more after the conclusion of the eighth remains to be seen - ABC has not picked it up for a ninth season just yet. The uncertainty made it difficult to craft the final episode, showrunner Shonda Rhimes told TVLine.com "We have all these moveable pieces of who’s coming back and who’s not, and finally I just decided to focus on what was going to be best creatively [and] make it work regardless of what is happening [off screen]," she told the website. Whether or not "Grey's Anatomy" returns, fans can watch some of its best moments through TV on DVD, or check out similar series including the spin-off "Private Practice" or the medical comedy "Scrubs."
