Anybody holding out for a new franchise from James Cameron may have to give up hope. The Oscar-winning director recently spoke with The New York Times and revealed that he is not going to be making any movies outside of the "Avatar" realm.

Cameron has been focused on ocean exploration over much of the last decade, and recently became the first person to visit Challenger Deep, the deepest point on Earth. As a result, he has only made two movies over the last 16 years and says he doesn't plan on changing that anytime soon.

"I'm in the 'Avatar' business. Period. That's it," he told the Times. "I'm making 'Avatar 2,' 'Avatar 3,' maybe 'Avatar 4,' and I'm not going to produce other people's movies for them. I'm not interested in taking scripts."

The announcement comes after Cameron unveiled his latest endeavor - asteroid mining. According to CBS, he is among several high-powered backers for a plan that hopes to mine asteroids by 2020.

Although Cameron may not be launching any new franchises, there are still plenty of his older movies fans can enjoy including the classic sci-fi flick "The Terminator" and 1986's "Aliens."
