'The Vow' tells heartbreaking true story

Plenty of movies are based on real life events, but few of them are romantic dramas. However, "The Vow" broke the mold, and tells the true story of a couple that overcame considerable adversity. Featuring commanding performances by Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams, the new release DVD hits shelves May 8. Paige (McAdams) and Leo Collins (Tatum) are happily married newlyweds whose lives are turned upside down after they are in a violent car crash. Though both parties survive, Paige is left with no memory of the last several years of her life, including that she met and is now married to Leo. Despite attempts to remind Paige of why they married, Leo faces increasing pressure to end their marriage. While it might seem like everything is lost, Leo holds out hope that their once-strong relationship will return. Fans of romantic dramas like "The Vow" may want to check out similar films such as "The Lake House," which reunited Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock, or "Dear John," which also starred Tatum.
