'Top Gun' sequel closer to becoming a reality

Print this article Though it came out more than 25 year ago, "Top Gun" looks like it's coming ever closer to getting a sequel. Tom Cruise, who starred in the popular '80s flick, is reportedly nearing signing a deal to appear in the follow-up, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The news comes from Paramount Film Group's president Adam Goodman. In discussing the possibility of several other big-name sequels, from "Transformers" to "Mission: Impossible," Goldman let slip that "Top Gun 2" is on the horizon.
"We'll likely make a 'Top Gun' sequel with Tom Cruise first," he told the publication. "Jerry Bruckheimer would produce, with Tony Scott returning to direct. All parties are moving ahead. We've hired Peter Craig to write the script."
Although the news may have some people wringing their hands about another possible sequel, the many legions of fans of the original are likely excited. To get ready for the release, watching some of Cruise's best films such as "Minority Report" and "A Few Good Men" could be in order.
