(We do not collect these names or emails!)Fenway Park, the iconic home of the Boston Red Sox, is set to celebrate its 100th anniversary this weekend with a series against their arch rival the New York Yankees. There are a number of citywide events marking the significant milestone, and in honor of the famous stadium's centennial, it might be a good idea to take a look at some of the best movies to use Boston as a backdrop.
"The Town"
Directed by Massachusetts-native Ben Affleck, this gritty heist thriller used its setting in Boston to perfection. Not only did the action movie feature excellent performances from Affleck and Jeremy Renner (who earned an Oscar nomination for the role), but its climax literally took place inside Fenway.
"The Departed"
It was the movie that finally earned Martin Scorsese a win for Best Director and Best Picture - and with good reason. The all-star cast featuring Jack Nicholson, Leonardo DiCaprio and Matt Damon make the film one of the best mobster movies of all time.
"Good Will Hunting"
It's impossible to leave this movie off the list. It put both Damon and Affleck on the map, and earned Robin Williams a much deserved Oscar for Best Actor. Though Fenway doesn't make an appearance, its setting in Boston plays a huge role.
