Print this article Ever since "Jaws" hit theaters in 1975, movie audiences have been terrified by the open water. The tradition continues with the 2012 thriller "Dark Tide," which features a compelling performance from Halle Berry and comes to new release DVD April 24.
Kate Mathieson (Berry) used to be well-known for her ability to swim with Great White sharks. However, after she loses one of her close friends to the jaws of a Great White, she no longer seeks adventures and instead gives guided tours.
Though she seems resigned to a quiet life, it all changes when her estranged boyfriend Jeff (Oliver Martinez) comes back and convinces her to revisit the ocean. Of course, there's much more than Kate simply overcoming her fears and she'll be forced to once again get into the water with the dangerous animals.
Anybody looking to catch up on some of the best shark-related movies of all time may want to check out the Samuel L. Jackson thriller "Deep Blue Sea," or the more campy sci-fi flick "Mega Shark Versus Giant Octopus."
