Print this article Gerard Butler may have appeared in his fair share of romantic comedies over the last several years, but nobody can forget that he got his big break starring in the action movie "300." The actor is apparently returning to his roots, as he recently joined the cast of the upcoming thriller "Manhunt," according to Deadline.
The film, which is set to be directed by Breck Eisner, follows a team of FBI agents who are tasked with hunting down one a domestic terrorist in the North Carolina wilderness. To help them find their man, the team enlists the aid of an area bear hunter who knows the woods better than anyone.
Though it's unclear which role Butler has been tapped to play, chances are he will bring a considerable intensity to the part, much like he did in the 2009 thriller "Law Abiding Citizen," where he starred alongside Jamie Foxx.
While he certainly has an action edge to him, Butler also has a softer side as evidenced by his romantic films including "P.S. I Love You" and "The Ugly Truth."
