Meryl Streep leads the way in 'The Iron Lady'

Margaret Thatcher was one of the most iconic political figures of the 20th century, so it's no wonder that one of the best actresses of her generation played her on screen. "The Iron Lady" features a tour de force from Meryl Streep, and her Oscar-winning performance comes to DVD April 10. Thatcher (Streep) was the longest-serving Prime Minister of the United Kingdom during the 1900s, but there were a lot of untold stories in her rise to power. The movie often flashes back from past to present, examining what made The Iron Lady the woman she is remembered as. Not all of the memories are good ones, of course. The film also examines the situation surrounding her final years in office, when she regularly butted heads with members of her cabinet and resisting the changing global climate. The movie has been lauded as one of the Streep's best performances in her storied career. To check out some of her other best roles, movie buffs should watch "Adaptation" and the 1970s classic "The Deer Hunter."
