Print this article Given the immense success of "The Hunger Games," it was only a matter of time before talks of a filming the second movie in the series began. Although there was concern the film's star Jennifer Lawrence would not be available, those worries have been put to rest, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The second film in the series, "Catching Fire," is expected to begin shooting this fall. However, Lawrence is under contract with Fox for her role in the "X-Men" franchise, which is also coming out with another movie in the near future. Eventually, Fox moved the start date of the film to January, allowing Lawrence to be in both projects.
Although the Oscar-nominated actress is going to be back for the sequel, the same may not be the case for director Gary Ross. Indiewire.com's blog The Playlist reports that Ross has bowed out of the second film. There's no word yet on what the exact reason is, but it likely was not money-related.
