Many TV fans have been wondering when the big networks were going to announce which series got picked up for another season, and CBS recently provided them with a resounding answer. The network announced the renewal of 15 series, including some surprise hits along with some longtime favorites, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Hit comedies such as "How I Met Your Mother" and "The Big Bang Theory" had already been tied into new seasons for next fall, but there were some newer series whose futures were in doubt. Among them was "2 Broke Girls," which managed to earn a second season despite lukewarm critical response. "Mike and Molly," last year's surprise hit, also was picked up for a third season.

CBS announced much more than the renewal of its comedies, however. According to the publication, the network also noted that it will be picking up a number of dramas for new seasons including "The Good Wife" and the reboot of "Hawaii Five-O."

One show that was conspicuously absent from discussion was "Two and a Half Men." The network says it is still discussing the future of the show, which currently stars Ashton Kutcher.
