Seth MacFarlane has had plenty of success in the comedy world, but he is gearing up for one of his biggest challenges yet. The "Family Guy" creator is working on a television reboot of the classic cartoon "The Flintstones," and recently spoke about how the project is coming along, according to The Huffington Post.

The iconic franchise has seen a few attempts to capture what audiences loved about the series when it first debuted decades ago. Most notably, there were two live action movies, neither of which were particularly well-received by critics. Even so, MacFarlane feels a great deal of pressure in being tasked with bringing the show back to the small screen.

"It's like being handed the keys to a very old expensive car," he told HuffPo. "You want to be careful not to be Ferris Bueller with it. It was the first thing I drew, when I was two years old. It's a nice, full-circle thing."

There are few details surrounding the production schedule, but according to Deadline, it may hit Fox airwaves sometime in 2013. Until then, fans of MacFarlane can check out his other series including "American Dad" and "The Cleveland Show."
