Print this article Nicolas Cage has been one of the most prolific actors over the last several decades, but an upcoming movie based on his exploits may not even star the actor himself. Lionsgate recently picked up the rights to "Action No. 1," a comedy based on the 2000 theft of one of Cage's most prize possessions - his copy of 1938 comic book which featured the first appearance of Superman, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The script was written by Robert Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon, who are likely best known for being the duo behind "Reno 911!" Though the events that inspired the movie took place more than a decade ago, the caper was thrust into the spotlight once again in 2011 when the pilfered periodical was finally recovered and sold at auction.
The publication reports that Garant and Lennon wrote the script thinking that Cage may have potentially played himself, but it appears like that will no longer be the case. There are currently no actors attached the project.
Though Cage will not be appearing in "Action No. 1," fans of his can check out some of his best work in movies like "Raising Arizona" and "National Treasure."
