Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson tapped for Russo brothers movie

He's been a star college football player and a pro wrestler, and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is now growing his career as an actor. Johnson is set to star in the upcoming movie "Ciudad," the next directorial effort from the Russo brothers, Deadline reports. It won't be much of a stretch for Johnson. The film is being touted as an intense action movie and is based on a graphic novel of the same name. Johnson is expected to star as a mercenary who is tapped by a Brazilian drug kingpin to save his daughter from kidnappers. Though it may not be foreign territory for Johnson, it will be a bit of a change of pace for the Russo brothers. The duo are best known for their work behind the camera on comedy movies such as "You, Me and Dupree." "Exploring genre has always been a driving motivation for us as filmmakers. This movie is the culmination of a long-time ambition to bring our sensibilities to an action thriller," the Russos said in a statement, according to the website. While the movie has no set release date, to get ready for it, fans can watch some of Johnson's best movies including "Fast Five" and "Gridiron Gang."
