Print this article Despite being years away, the next installment of the "Transformers" film series already has a release date. The Michael Bay-directed movie will hit theaters July 29, 2014, but it will look a bit different than the three that have come before it, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The movie will be a reboot of the franchise and likely will include a number of new actors. There's no word on whether all of the stars of the original three, including Shia LaBeouf, will be appearing. The most recent release, 2011's "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" was a hit despite tepid critical reviews and grossed $1.1 billion worldwide.
"To clarify uninformed reports coming out of Toy Fair - Steven Spielberg and I are working on a whole new re imagining of Transformers, the fourth installment," he wrote on his website. "We have been working on the idea for a few months. I'm excited about where it's headed."
To see some of Michael Bay's best films outside of the "Transformers" line, movie buffs may want to watch "Armageddon" or "The Island."
