Studio pulls plug on Paradise Lost adaptation

The big-screen adaptation of John Milton's Paradise Lost proved to be a little too ambitious. Legendary Pictures has ceased production on the film, which was set to star Bradley Cooper as Satan, Deadline reports. The enormouse scope of the movie ended up being  too much to keep it under the $120 million budget limit. The biggest issue facing the filmmakers was how to appropriately capture the angel-on-angel fight scenes that set up Satan's fall from grace. The movie was also set to star Benjamin Walker and Diego Boneta. While work on the project has stopped, there's no word yet on whether or not it could be picked up in the future. According to the website, it might be shelved until the necessary visual effects become a bit cheaper to use. Though moviegoers may not be able to see Cooper take on the role of Satan anytime soon, they can still catch the popular actor in movies such as the blockbuster comedy "The Hangover Part II," "Limitless" and the star-studded action flick "The A-Team."
