'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' sequel gets go ahead

Despite being the first installment in a trilogy, there was no confirmation that "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" would get two sequels. However, the wait is over, as Sony stated it will move forward with the second two films despite the first's lukewarm box office reception, Deadline reports. The second in the series, "The Girl Who Played With Fire," already has a script written and though it has no set production schedule, sources say it is likely to start filming toward the end of this year or the beginning of 2013. Although the overall haul of the movie, expected to be $300 million worldwide, is high, some are shocked to see the sequels were given the go-ahead so soon. "The surprising part is that Sony is not waiting to see if the movie works overseas before going forward with the sequels," an industry insider told the website. "I would have."
