Martin Scorcese earns lifetime achievement honor from BAFTA

Martin Scorsese is one of the most accomplished directors in movie history and he is set to get his due praise from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA). The group recently announced that it would be awarding him a fellowship for his significant achievement, the New York Post reports. The honor is a testament to the enormous body of work Scorcese has produced in his decades in Hollywood. Despite helming critical favorites including "Taxi Driver" and "Goodfellas," it was not until his 2008 movie "The Departed" when he finally won an Academy Award for Best Director. As such, it should surprise nobody that BAFTA chose him. "Martin Scorsese is a legend in his lifetime - a true inspiration to all young directors the world over," BAFTA chairman Tim Corrie announced in a statement. He may also be up for a BAFTA award that its ceremony in February for his work on the 2011 movie "Hugo," which is earning excellent reviews and has been generating considerable Oscar buzz as well.
