Two of the biggest movies of the summer are going to be getting sequels. Fox Entertainment has confirmed that it both "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" and "X-Men: First Class" will likely get follow-up movies, Paste magazine reports.

The studio's co-chairman Tim Rothman made the announcement and said that he hopes they can bring back the directors of both movies as well as some of the leading actors. Despite the desire for sequels, he added that they both still need scripts.

"Rise of the Planet of the Apes" starred James Franco and was met with considerable critical acclaim when it hit theaters on August 5. It eventually raked in nearly $480 million at the box office. "X-Men First Class," which featured an ensemble cast including January Jones, James McAvoy and Kevin Bacon, also was a big hit for the studio and took in more than $350 million.

Sequels to superhero movies have been some of the best films in recent memories with both "Spider-Man 2" and "The Dark Knight" considered to be the best in their respective series.
