Print this article Conan the Barbarian is among the most well-known characters in American fantasy and although he was famously portrayed by Arnold Schwarzenegger the '80s, the icon recently got a reboot in the aptly titled "Conan the Barbarian." The new release DVD hits shelves November 22.
Conan (Jason Momoa) is very skilled fighter but has been living life as a pirate ever since the brutal warlord Khalar Zym destroyed his village and killed his family when he was younger. Seeking revenge, Conan allows himself to be captured by one of Zym's soldiers but he soon discovers that he has stumbled upon a much more sinister plan than what he thought.
Zym and his daughter Marique (Rose McGowan) are hell bent on capturing the power of an ancient mask and using it to take over the world. Knowing what Zym is capable of, Conan has to find a way to intervene before it's too late.
There is certainly no lack of great fantasy films that have come out of the last several years, and those looking to check out some of the best should watch "Clash of the Titans" and "Pan's Labyrinth."
