'Doctor Who' may be made into a movie

One of the most beloved science fiction television series of all time may be headed to the big screen. "Doctor Who," which had an impressive run from 1963 to 1989 before being rebooted in 2005 is in line to be turned into a movie by the BBC and "Harry Potter" director David Yates, Variety reports. The legions of fans of the show may have to wait a while before it hits the silver screen, however. Yates, who is teaming up with Jane Tranter, BBC Worldwide's executive vice president of programing and production, has indicated he wants to take his time to make sure it's done correctly. "We're looking at writers now," Yates told the publication. "We're going to spend two to three years to get it right. It needs quite a radical transformation to take it into the bigger arena." Fans of the time-traveling series may want to check out similar shows including the short-lived cult hit "Firefly" as well as the reboot of the '70s classic "Battlestar Galactica."
