'Weeds' renewed for an eighth season

Showtime has one of the most popular lineups of any cable channel, and one of its flagship series will be around for at least one more season. The network recently renewed "Weeds" for an impressive eighth season after a long period of negotiations, Deadline reports. The seventh season of the show, which stars Mary-Louise Parker as a suburban mom turned marijuana kingpin, came to a close in September and it was still up in the air whether or not it would be back for an eighth. Despite its long run, the series has remained as popular has ever, and featured guest stars Martin Short and Jennifer Jason Leigh. According to the website, "Weeds" is the longest-running show in the history of Showtime, and its record-setting eighth season will begin production sometime in 2012 and last for 13 episodes. Fans of "Weeds" will certainly want to check out some of Showtime's other great series, including the David Duchovny hit "Californication" and the Emmy-winning "Dexter" which stars Michael C.
