'Where's Waldo' movie in the works

Print this article For years he has been a beloved character in children's books, and now he's headed to the big screen. MGM has gained the rights to film a movie based on the "Where's Waldo" series that will the the form of a live-action family movie, Paste magazine reports.
Though the movie is only now getting made, it certainly is not the first time that studios have considered it. Nickelodeon had expressed an interest in producing a movie based on the books but plans ultimately fell through. Furthermore, in 2009 Universal Studios obtained the rights but did not move forward.
According to the publication,this won't be Waldo's first trip outside of the pages of his popular books, either. The bespectacled traveller also starred in a 13-episode animated show and has appeared in everything from video games to the pages of his own magazine.
There is no word on who will write, star in or direct the movie, but until that time there are plenty of other excellent family-friendly titles movie buffs can check out. Some of the best from recent years are "The Incredibles," "Wall-E" and "Tangled."
