French film gets an American spin in '13'

Jason Statham has earned the reputation of being one of the toughest guys in Hollywood - and rightfully so. Nearly all of his starring roles involve him playing a rugged tough guy, and the recent thriller "13" is now different. The fast-paced new release DVD hits shelves November 8. The film, which is an English-language adaptation of a 2005 French movie, follows the plight of Vince Ferro (Sam Riley) who enters a Russian roulette game when he becomes desperate for money. The game features 13 contestants and is being wagered on by wealthy spectators, one of whom is Jasper (Statham), whose brother is in the game. Despite being up against very small odds, Vince survives the game and walks away with a large sum of money, but he is not out of the water yet. With police hot on his tail and Jasper closing in after, Vince still has to fight for survival. Fans of Statham may want to check out some of his other pulse-pounding films including "Crank," and the star-studded action movie "The Expendables."
