Burt Reynolds to make cameo on 'Archer'

Throughout the two-season run of the animated comedy series "Archer," the titular character has often expressed admiration for Burt Reynolds, and now he'll get the chance to tell him to his face. Reynolds is slated to appear as himself in cartoon form when the show returns to FX in January, Entertainment Weekly reports. The show's main character, Sterling Archer (voiced by H. Jon Benjamin), often goes on long speeches about Reynolds in his 1970s prime, and some have speculated that Archer himself is a spoof on the many renegade characters played by Reynolds. The show's creator said that having the "Deliverance" star appear was a thrill. "I think the only person on the planet who's a bigger fan of Burt Reynolds than me is Sterling Archer," said the show's creator Adam Reed, according to the publication. "Archer constantly tries to imitate Burt and always raves about Burt's movies and all-around awesomeness. So to have Burt recording voice-overs for the show was just amazing."
