When it came out in 2006, "Cars" was instantly recognized as one of the most popular family movies in recent memory. So it comes as no surprise that its sequel, "Cars 2," was equally well-received by children and parents alike. The heartwarming new release DVD hits shelves November 1.

Racing champions Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) returns home to reunite with friends Mater (Larry the Cable Guy) and girlfriend Sally (Bonnie Hunt). Though he initially refused to get back into racing, he is finally convinced to participate in the upcoming World Grand Prix to promote a new biofuel.

However, the success of the race comes into question once the nefarious Professor Zudnapp (Thomas Kretschmann) devises a plan to ignite the biofuel in all the cars, thus restoring the auto worlds dependence on oil. It quickly becomes a race against time as Mater and others attempt to thwart the plans.

Although the "Cars" movies have been popular they certainly aren't the only animated films to resonate with families over the last several years. Both "Finding Nemo" and "Wall-E" are regarded as classics.
