Print this article If there's one instigator for drama, be it on screen or in life, it's marriage. The institution has been the cause of plenty of cinematic tension over the years, and is on display once again in the drama "Beautiful Boy." The new release DVD hits shelves October 11.
Married couple Bill (Michael Sheen) and Kate (Maria Bello) are both strongly attached to their careers and suffer a great deal of stress because of it. Although their marriage is already on the ropes, they get some harrowing news when they find out that their son Sam went on a shooting spree and killed several people, including himself.
In the aftermath of the news, Bill and Kate have to come to grips with what caused their son to go on a rampage, all while dealing with the media onslaught that descends on them after the shooting. During the frenzy they still have to flesh out the problems that were driving them apart in the first place.
There have been no lack of great family dramas to come out in movie history including Academy Award-winner "Kramer vs. Kramer" and "Revolutionary Road."
