Fans of "Arrested Development" have been holding out hope for a movie ever since the show went off the air in 2006, but now it looks like they'll be getting more than just a big screen adaptation. Show creator Mitchell Hurwitz recently said that he is planning a 9- or 10-episode season before the release of the movie, The New York Times reports.

The announcement came at a New Yorker Festival event when Hurwitz appeared alongside the show's stars and gave fans in the audience the great news. Since it has been five years since the last episodes ran, Hurwitz figured it would be best not to jump right into the movie.

"We're trying to do a limited-run series into the movie." he told the audience, according to the Times. "We're basically hoping to do nine or 10 episodes, with almost one character per episode."

The news was confirmed by Jason Bateman, who stared in the show as Michael Bluth. Bateman turned to Twitter later in the day on Sunday to say they were hoping for an early 2013 premiere.

Fans of the show may want to check out similar comedy series including "Community" and "Better of Ted."
