Paced by campy horror and a series of nods to movies of the past, the "Scream" franchise was one of the most popular of the late '90s and early 2000s. Though it had been more than 10 years since the third film, "Scream 4" hit theaters in 2011, much to the delight of its legions of fans. The thrilling movie comes to DVD October 4.

It has been 15 years since the murders in the original film, and there appears to be a new Ghostface killer on the loose. The heroine of the original movie Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) has returned to her home town to promote a new book, but quickly becomes a suspect for the murders after evidence is found in her car, prompting her to stay longer than she planned.

However, the Ghostface killings continue to plague teenagers across the town, and it is up to Sidney and town sheriff Dewey Riley (David Arquette) to team up and once again track down the killer.

There is certainly no lack of excellent horror movies for film buffs to choose from, but some of the best are "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" and "The Hills Have Eyes."
