One of the most famous props in movie history is going up for auction, and it is expected to bring in quite a hefty sum. The ruby red slippers from "The Wizard of Oz" are going on sale on December 16, and experts believe they could fetch between $2 and $3 million, Reuters reports.

The shoes are one of the just four remaining pairs used in the 1939 classic movie and many believe that the ones up for auction were the ones featured when Judy Garland's Dorothy famous clicker her heels together to get back home to Kansas.

"This is the most important film prop in the world. There is nothing more famous," author Joe Maddalena told the news provider. "They are one of the greatest pieces of pop culture in existence."

These aren't the only red slippers from the movie to be put up for auction, either. Earlier this year a different pair sold for $612,000.

Although not all fans can own a piece of film history, checking out some classic movies such as "Some Like it Hot," and "It's a Wonderful Life," can be the next best thing.
