The 2007 musical "Once" was a surprise hit with both critics and fans due to the songs sang by stars Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova. The duo eventually went on to form the band The Swell Season and rocketed to fame, and now there another film that chronicles the ups and downs of the band, Paste magazine reports.

The documentary follows both Hansard and Irglova as their once-professional relationship developing into a romantic one. The movie also examines the toll that their unexpected fame took on the relationship, which eventually falls apart. The movie is also the directorial debut of Nick August-Perna, Chris Dapkins and Carlo Mirabella-Davis, who all worked on the project.

The film opens up on October 7, as it premieres in Los Angeles. After that it continues a run on a limited release mostly on the west coast with dates in Portland, Oregon, and Seattle.

There has been no lack of excellent documentaries to come out over the last several years including the Oscar-nominated "Exit Through the Gift Shop," as well as the captivating "Man on Wire."
