Suspense abounds in 'The Ledge'

Some of the best movies investigate how small choices can have an enormous impact. Such is the case with "The Ledge," a taut thriller that addresses both faith and fate, and how the two intersect. The new release DVD hits shelves September 27. The story follows the plight of Gavin (Charlie Hunman), a steadfast atheist who has been having an affair with his neighbor's wife Shana (Liv Tyler). When her husband Joe (Patrick Wilson) finds out, he forces Gavin to make a choice - end his own life or Shana's. Joe forces Gavin to the top of a high rise and urges Gavin to jump, and says that if he doesn't jump within one hour he will kill Shana. With two lives at stake, a police officer named Hollis (Terrence Howard) has to find a way to bring both of them down safely. Thrillers often focus on a number of different factors in play and include multiple story lines. Perhaps the best known example is the Best Picture winner "Crash," but the Quentin Tarantino classic "Pulp Fiction" is another excellent choice.
