'Sex and the City' prequel coming to The CW

Fans of "Sex and the City" who have been waiting for Carrie Bradshaw to return to the small screen may not have to wait much longer. The CW is developing a prequel to the popular HBO series that is likely to follow the socialite shoe-enthusiast through her early days, Entertainment Weekly report. The proposed series, which is expected to begin airing next fall, is based on the novel titled The Carrie Diaries. This series follows the main character's progression from her senior year of high school and through her move to New York City. Although the news might sit well with long-time fans of the shows, others are not quite as keen on the idea. Michael Patrick King, the producer of the original series, doesn't want to see the story move backwards. "My Carrie Bradshaw started at 33, and I took her to 43. I didn't even want to know who Carrie Bradshaw's parents were because I thought she only existed in Manhattan," he said recently, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Fans of the comedy series may want to check out similar shows including "Desperate Housewives" and "Friends."
