Aaron Sorkin has been one of the most prolific screenwriters in television and film for more than a decade, and he has recently inched closer to signing a deal to write a new show for HBO. Deadline reports the project will be a drama examining the goings on behind the scenes at a nightly cable news talk show.

The series, tentatively titled "More as the Story Develops," has been in development for several years, and has the potential to be as big a hit as the Sorkin-penned "The West Wing." According to the website, the screenwriter spent extensive time observing a number of famous pundits including Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews.

The show would also partner Sorkin with producer Scott Rudin, who worked with Sorkin on the critically acclaimed movie "The Social Network," and sources close to the deal believe a pilot will be filmed later this year.

Anybody who enjoyed "The West Wing" would certainly appreciate checking out some of Sorkin's best work including "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" and the Jack Nicholson classic "A Few Good Men."
