Print this article There has certainly been no lack of superhero movies over the last decade or so, but the 2011 film "Thor" was a unique twist on the format. Focusing on one of the under-appreciated superheros in comic book lore, the exciting action film comes to DVD on September 13.
Thor (Chris Hemsworth) is stripped of his godly power by his father Odin (Anthony Hopkins) and banished to Earth. The disgraced former-immortal is discovered by Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) and two of her colleagues. Thor, separated from his powerful hammer, Mjolnir, begins a quest to get it back.
However, the path to retrieving his source of power is not that easy, especially since he is being pursued by some of the beings from his former life. Thor has to navigate the dangerous world he suddenly has found himself in all while proving himself worthy to once again wield Mjolnir.
Any superhero movie fans looking to watch some similarly less-appreciated movies may want to check out the critical favorite "Hellboy" and star-studded "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer."
