Joseph Gordon-Levitt mixes it up in 'Hesher'

Over the last several years, Joseph Gordon-Levitt has emerged of one of the best up-and-coming actors in Hollywood. Though primarily known for his clean-cut image, Gordon-Levitt switching things up in the 2011 movie "Hesher." The gritty new release DVD comes out September 13. A young boy named T.J. (Devin Brochu) loses his mother in a car accident and falls into a deep depression. However, he forges an unlikely friendship with a man named Hesher (Gordon-Levitt) and a good-natured clerk named Nicole (Natalie Portman). Though initially helped by the relationship formed between himself and Hesher, T.J. begins to feel a strain between the two. Hesher's care-free lifestyle seems to be leading him astray, but in the end, T.J. will learn about the importance of family, especially in trying times. Due to its somewhat dramatic story, the movie significant divergence from Gordon-Levitt's career. However, fans of the former "3rd Rock from the Sun" actor can check out some of his more light-hearted work in "(500) Days of Summer" and "10 Things I Hate About You."
