It's been more than 30 years since the Blues Brothers debuted on "Saturday Night Live," but it looks like the famous duo is set to make a return to the small screen. Variety reports that a script has been written for the pilot, and both original members, Dan Aykroyd and Judy Belushi, the widow of John Belushi are involved.

In fact, it was Belushi herself who helped pen the script. Aykroyd, who helped carry the torch after John Belushi died in 1982, would be involved in the project as a parole officer. Former SNL writer Anne Beatts is also on board.

"I think these are great American characters," Judy Belushi told the publication. "We want to keep them alive. We chose to introduce them as new characters but do it in an way that they have some history, have some life behind them."

It will be the first time that the duo would be appearing since the 1998 film "Blues Brothers 2000," which start Akroyd and John Goodman. Comedy movie fans should check out similar titles based of SNL skits such as "Wayne's World" and "MacGruber."
