'Prom' continues the tradition of the American high school comedy

From "The Breakfast Club" to "American Pie," high school hijinks have been the inspiration for a long list of classic movies. The 2011 comedy "Prom" attempts to capture that same nostalgia that all moviegoers love. The new release DVD hits shelves August 30. The movie focuses on the days leading up to an unnamed high school's prom. The senior class president Nova (Aimee Teegarden) has been working for months to plan the dance, but everything seemingly falls apart when the decorations are burned along with a school shed. With just three weeks left until prom, Nova enlists the help of her friends to help salvage the event. To help, the school's resident bad boy Jesse (Thomas McDowell), who caused the fire, has to assist her or he cannot graduate. Will the two be able to shed their differences and create a memorable prom?
