The wait for the much-anticipated video game "Batman: Arkham City," may have been made much more difficult. Designers recently teased players by announcing Robin would be a playable character as well as showing off three different clothing options for Batman's trusty sidekick.

According to IGN.com, gamers will be able to play as the Boy Wonder as Red Robin, hooded Robin or switch things up with Robin from "Batman: The Animated Series." The confirmation joins a number of other enticing details that have hit in advance of the game's October 18 release date.

However, anybody hoping for a story arc involving Batman's secret identity Bruce Wayne will be sorely disappointed.

"Our aim has always been to make an action game, not a business simulator, and when you start thinking about what you would do while playing as Bruce Wayne, it doesn't seem terribly exciting in comparison," developer Dax Ginn told the official XBox magazine.

Gamers who can't wait until October 18 may want to check out similar titles including "Batman: Arkham Asylum" and "Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots."
