(We do not collect these names or emails!)A growing number of movies are being offered in 3-D, but the upcoming "Spy Kids: All the Time in the World" is taking things to a new level. The Associated Press reports that director Robert Rodriguez is giving audiences the opportunity to smell the movie as well.
The innovative feature works by giving viewers a scratch and sniff card with numbered circles on them. When each number appears on the screen, audience members can scratch the circle and smell what the characters are smelling. Rodriguez says that the so-called Aroma-Scope has played out quite well with both kids and parents alike.
"Just watching my own kids with interactive gaming, you ask them to watch a movie, it just feels so passive to them," Rodriguez told the AP. "I thought, this helps bridge the gap. It's an interactive thing, almost like playing a game while you're watching the movie."
Though Rodriguez has made the foray in to family movies with the "Spy Kids" franchise, he has also directed numerous films for adults as well, including "Sin City" and the campy horror movie "The Faculty."
