Paul Giamatti directs, stars in 'Win Win'

Paul Giamatti has been become one of the most well-respected actors in Hollywood over the last decade, and he recently took his talents behind the camera with the 2011 sports movie "Win Win." The new release DVD hits shelves August 23. The story follows the plight of Mike Flaherty (Giamatti), a New Jersey lawyer who works as the wrestling coach for the local high school as well. The squad has been mired in a losing streak, and in the process of trying to keep his wife Jackie (Amy Ryan) and their kids happy, he is also trying to bring respectability back to the team. Mike's luck seems to change however when he and his assistant coach Vigman (Jeffrey Tambor) stumble across a star athlete. He also resurrects his career, but his good fortunes hang by a thread and could be threatened at any moment. Movie buffs looking to catch up on some of Giamatti's best work should familiarize themselves with the comedy "Sideways," and "Cinderella Man," for which he earned an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
