Fourth 'Austin Powers' film in the works

Fans of the "Austin Powers" series who have been itching for a new installment since 2002's "Goldmember," have been given some groovy news. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mike Myers is nearing a deal to write, produce and star in the fourth film in the popular comedy franchise. While the report is encouraging for those hoping to see Myers back in his secret agent alter ego, nothing is currently set in stone, and he has been known to back out of deals, most famously in 2000 when he refused to play Dieter, a character from "Saturday Night Live," in a film. Since the last "Austin Powers" movie, Myers has largely been involved in animated movies, most famously voicing the titular ogre Shrek in all four of the family movies. While he had a minor role in the 2009 hit "Inglourious Basterds," the former "SNL" star has largely avoided live action films in recent years. Those who have followed Myers' career since the early days will likely want to add his hit comedy movies including "Wayne's World" and "So I Married an Axe Murderer."
